Silhouette Project

A silhouette is produced when we take a photograph  of a subject that has  strong BACK lighting. The subject will be darker than the bright background. It is important that the ambient light (light reflected on the subject) not be too bright.  There needs to be at least a 4 f-stop difference between the brightness of the light on the subject and the light falling on the background.  Set the light meter for the bright background and your  result will be a silhouette. Of course, in a silhouette it is the SHAPE of the subject that makes the photo interesting.
